Ademar does a lot of different activities related with software, including research, training, consulting, development, and startups.
He teaches several course units related with Software Engineering as a Professor at Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP) and he does research at INESC TEC.
After more than 25 years of experience on software development, Ademar has specialized on software architecture and design (patterns, frameworks, platforms, infrastructures), agile methods (XP, Scrum, Lean), wikis and open collaboration tools, social software, and more recently on personal and social learning environments.
Current research interests include knowledge management practices and tools for highly effective and efficient software development teams and organizations.
Beyond the field of software engineering, Ademar is also exploring and applying innovative software solutions to other audiences and fields, from aid distribution (e.g. MOVERCADO), to personal knowledge management (e.g. disrupting email), and digital education (e.g.schoooools.com).
